I'd like to say we gave it a try
I'd like to blame it all on life

As Lia replayed the results of a pregnancy test over and over in her mind, she couldn’t believe it had come back positive. Normally she was able to get a pretty good idea of how things were going to go, but for once she had no idea. She wasn’t even sixteen yet! How was she supposed to be a mother? Half the time she couldn’t even take care of herself, and now she had another life growing inside of her? Lia hadn’t told anyone else yet, not even Mariana or Matthew, and she wasn’t sure she was read to at the moment. Mariana she knew would support her through anything, Matthew was the one she was worried about telling. In her heart she knew that she was in love with him, he was an amazing boyfriend and all around person, but she was still scared that once she did tell him she was pregnant he would leave her and want nothing to do with their child. For that reason she sat there trying to figure out how, and when, she was going to tell everyone, and what she was going to do in the coming months. Since her diagnosis Lia had never been so afraid of anything in her life, but now she found herself panicking so much she could hardly hold her phone in her hand for shaking.
Speaking of her phone, Matthew had been texting and calling since early that morning and Lia just wasn’t ready to answer him quite yet. She felt bad for ignoring him, but she obviously had a lot on her mind at the moment and she wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. Lia had even asked her own twin to leave her alone when asked what was wrong after breakfast that morning. Mariana had eventually gone when she realized she was getting nowhere with her sister and went about her day. Lying on her bed, legs hanging off of the side Lia finally got her shaking down enough to check her phone and answer Matthew’s texts back, she still wasn’t ready to speak to him yet though. When she had text her boyfriend back Lia started to look through her facebook and twitter accounts to see what she had missed so far when her mom called up the stairs “Lia, lunch is ready baby.” to which she answered “I’m not hungry.” only to be told “It’s important that you eat, you know why.” causing her to get off of her bed with a great sigh and leave her bedroom with her phone in hand, checking it as she walked down the stairs towards the kitchen where her mom, dad, brother, and sisters were all waiting for her.
Taking her seat next to her twin Lia started to put a decent amount of food on her plate while everyone else around her started doing the same and conversing with each other. Once both twins had a filled their plates Lia turned to Mariana and started their own conversation “When is the first cheerleading practice again?” She asked genuinely curious. Cheerleading had been their personal bonding time for anything school related. It was the one thing they had agreed to participate in together and were not grouped together just because they were twin sisters. Mariana looked through her phone calendar for the date before telling Lia “Five on July Nineteenth.” pushing her naturally dark hair out of her face. The rest of the lunch went by with everyone just making small talk and enjoying their meal. Once she was finished eating Lia excused herself and went to her room to do her insulin before she started to feel terrible. It hadn’t taken her long to learn how to maintain her diabetes, for which she was thankful...she pretty much had it under control. Once she had finished that Lia send a couple of friends a text telling them to come over, she definitely needed the distraction right now.
